a study of the first antibody to block systemic inflammation in heart disease. Canakinumab binds to inteukin-1? and has been studies previously in juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, and COPD. This study will enroll patients with prior MI's who continue to have elevated levels of hsCRP.

a study of a once-per-day GLP-1 (glucagon-like-peptide) receptor agonist which may have the advantage of lowering blood glucose by a glucose-dependent stimulation of insulin release and inhibition of glucagon secretion. These drugs also delay gastric emptying and reduce appetite and will be used in diabetics post MI.
